Account and Data Deletion Policy

At Churchera, we respect your right to control your personal data. Whether you choose to permanently delete your account or request the deletion of specific personal information while keeping your account active, we provide secure and transparent options in line with data protection, compliance, and regulatory requirements.

1. Request Full Account Deletion

If you no longer wish to use Churchera, you may request the permanent deletion of your account, through any of the following ways. Account deletion request is subject to our review for compliance and regulatory purposes.

1.1 How to Request Full Account Deletion

1.1.1 Through the Churchera App or Website

  • Login to your Churchera account.
  • Go to Profile Settings.
  • Select Account Management.
  • Click on Delete Account Request.
  • Review the account deletion information provided.
  • Confirm your request by selecting Proceed with Deletion.

1.1.2 Through Email Request:

You may also request account deletion by sending an email from your Churchera account email address to our support team, clearly stating your request for permanent account deletion. Write to our support team via support@churchera.com

2. Request Partial Data Deletion Without Deleting Your Account

If you would like to remove certain personal data while keeping your Churchera account active, you may submit a partial data deletion request. Essential data about you are needed for the management of your account and cannot be partially removed, except upon request for full account deletion.

2.1 How to Request Partial Data Deletion

2.1.1 Through the Churchera App or Website

  • Login to your Churchera account.
  • Go to Profile Settings.
  • Select Privacy & Data Management.
  • Click on Request Data Deletion.
  • Choose the specific data you would like removed.
  • Review the information regarding deletion limitations.
  • Confirm your request by selecting Submit Request.

2.1.2 Through Email Request

You may also request for partial data deletion by sending an email from your Churchera account email address to our support team, clearly specifying the data you would like deleted while keeping your account active. Write to our support team via support@churchera.com

3. Data That Will Be Deleted

Depending on your request and subject to our review and regulatory compliance, the following personal data may be permanently removed from our active systems:

  • Full name
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Profile details
  • Profile photo
  • Login credentials
  • Saved preferences
  • Personal account settings
  • Communication preferences
  • Marketing consent history
  • Device and session-related account data
  • Support communication records (where applicable)
  • Saved payment methods (where applicable)
  • Giving history linked to personal profile visibility (where permitted)

4. Data That May Be Retained

Certain records may be retained even after deletion request due to legal, financial, security, and compliance obligations, including:

  • Donation and transaction records
  • Payment verification history
  • Fraud prevention and security logs
  • Audit and compliance records
  • Church giving records required for financial accountability
  • Dispute resolution documentation
  • Records required by applicable regulators

These retained records are securely stored and are not used for marketing purposes or regular account activity.

5. Data Retention Period

Where required by law or regulatory compliance, retained records may be stored for up to 7 years or for as long as necessary for the purposes stated in this policy, after which they will be securely deleted unless a longer retention period is required by applicable law.

6. Important Note

6.1 Full account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Once your account is deleted, you may lose access to your giving history, saved records, and other account-related information that cannot be recovered.

6.2 Partial data deletion may affect certain platform features and account functionality, as some services require specific information to remain available for continued access.

6.3 All deletion requests are carefully reviewed to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and data protection laws.

7. Data Rights

In accordance with applicable laws, you have the right to:

  • Request access to your personal data
  • Request correction or deletion
  • Withdraw consent at any time
  • Object to certain types of processing
  • Lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC)

8. Updates to This Policy

We may from time to time update this Account and Data Deletion Policy to reflect changes in our procedures, practices, or technology. We will notify you of significant changes. You are to review this policy after every update. Your continued use of our services after any update or changes constitutes your acknowledgement of such changes and updates.

10. Agreement

By using our platform, you agree to our Account and Data Deletion Policy.

11. Governing Law

This Account and Data Deletion Policy shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, including the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.

12. Dispute Resolution

Any dispute arising out of or in connection with this Account and Data Deletion Policy shall first be resolved through good faith negotiations. Where unresolved, such dispute shall be referred to the Federal High Court, Abuja or any other recognized Alternative Dispute Resolution institution in Nigeria.
